Official Public Notice Roundup: Wednesday, 8 April 2026

The City of Melbourne and Victorian government authorities have issued several official notices and public service announcements for Wednesday, 8 April 2026. Residents and visitors are advised to review the following updates regarding public transport, road maintenance, and community health.

Public Transport Service Changes

Maintenance works on the metropolitan rail network will necessitate several service adjustments on the evening of Wednesday, 8 April. Commuters should allow for additional travel time and plan their journeys in advance.

  • Sunbury Line: From 8:35 p.m. until the last service, buses will replace trains between North Melbourne and Sunshine stations. A shuttle bus service will also operate between North Melbourne, Arden, and Parkville to facilitate connections.
  • Cranbourne and Pakenham Lines: From 8:00 p.m. until the last service, trains will start and end at South Yarra Station. Passengers traveling to or from the city should transfer at South Yarra to Frankston or Sandringham line services.

Road and Footpath Maintenance

Essential infrastructure works are ongoing within the Central Business District to upgrade pedestrian facilities and road surfaces. Significant impacts are expected during night hours.

  • La Trobe Street: Bluestone paving works continue on La Trobe Street between Elizabeth Street and Queen Street. On Wednesday night, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., there will be a full closure of the southern footpath and a full westbound road closure in this section. Local detours are in place.
  • Northern Suburbs Rehabilitation: Road rehabilitation works are active on Westernport Road in Heath Hill. Motorists should expect lane closures and minor delays throughout the day.

Public Health Advisories

The Victorian Department of Health has maintained several active alerts for the Melbourne metropolitan area. Residents are urged to remain vigilant for symptoms related to the following concerns:

  • Legionnaires’ Disease Warning: An investigation is ongoing into an outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease in Craigieburn and surrounding northern suburbs, including Mickleham, Greenvale, and Roxburgh Park. Individuals who have visited these areas since late February and develop flu-like symptoms or pneumonia should seek urgent medical attention.
  • Measles Alert: Health authorities have identified an increased risk of measles transmission across metropolitan Melbourne. Due to highly infectious local cases, residents are encouraged to ensure their vaccinations are up to date and to monitor for rashes or high fever.

Council Governance

There are no ordinary Council or Future Melbourne Committee meetings scheduled for Wednesday, 8 April. The next scheduled meeting is set for Tuesday, 14 April 2026, at the Melbourne Town Hall.
