Official City Notice Roundup

The City of Melbourne and Victorian state authorities have issued several public notices and service advisories effective for Tuesday, 10 February 2026. Residents and commuters are advised to review the following updates regarding public health, significant transport movements, and infrastructure works throughout the metropolitan area.

Public Health Alert: Measles Advisory

The Department of Health has issued a high-priority health alert following a rise in travel-associated measles cases across Victoria. Public health officials are urging individuals who have visited high-traffic transit hubs or international arrival points to monitor for symptoms for up to 18 days. Symptoms typically include fever, cough, and runny nose, followed by a distinctive rash. If you develop symptoms, you are instructed to call your medical provider before arrival to ensure appropriate infection control measures are in place.

Major Transport: Tunnel Boring Machine Movement

A significant transport operation will take place overnight on Tuesday, 10 February. Two oversized tunnel boring machines (TBMs) are scheduled for transport from the Port of Hastings to Burwood. This operation involves extremely large vehicles and will result in temporary road closures and significant delays along the route. Motorists are strongly encouraged to avoid the transport corridor between Western Port and the eastern suburbs during the overnight period to ensure the safety of the transport crews and the public.

City Road and Infrastructure Works

Several major road works projects will be active on Tuesday, impacting traffic flow in the CBD and inner suburbs:

  • Collins Street:

Full eastbound road closures and northern footpath closures remain in effect between Exhibition Street and Russell Street for essential tree plot re-paving works. These works are scheduled between 8:00 PM and 5:00 AM.
  • Elizabeth Street:

Northbound lane closures are active between Franklin Street and Therry Street due to ongoing stormwater drainage renewal and bluestone reinstatement.
  • Queen Street:

Northbound closures at the intersection of Franklin Street will be in effect from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM for telecommunications upgrades.
  • Princes Highway (Malvern East):

Asphalt resurfacing continues, with all eastbound lanes closed between Murrumbeena Road and Warrigal Road from 9:00 PM until 5:00 AM. Detours are in place via North Road.

Public Service Reminders

Commuters are reminded that new public transport fare structures for 2026 are now in effect. The full fare daily Myki cap is set at $11.40. However, as part of the 2026 youth initiative, all passengers under the age of 18 are eligible for free travel across the Victorian network, provided they use a valid Youth Myki card and continue to touch on and off for each journey. Additionally, a public council meeting for the City of Yarra is scheduled for 6:30 PM this evening at the Fitzroy Town Hall.
