Official City Notices and Public Advisories

As of Monday, 16 March 2026, the following official notices, health advisories, and public service announcements are active for the Melbourne metropolitan area. Residents and commuters are advised to review these updates to ensure community safety and efficient travel.

Roadworks and Traffic Disruptions

Several major infrastructure projects will impact travel across the city starting this week. Commuters should allow for additional travel time in the following areas:

  • Altona/Newport: Remediation works on the Maddox Drain will commence today, 16 March. This project necessitates lane closures on the Williamstown Road-Melbourne Road overpass between Macindoe Court and Ross Street. These disruptions are expected to continue until early April.
  • Monash and Notting Hill: Ongoing construction for the Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East continues to impact Normanby Road and Ferntree Gully Road. Residents should expect intermittent lane closures, parking restrictions, and increased heavy vehicle movements during both day and night shifts.
  • Eastern Freeway: Major upgrades continue with city-bound lanes split between Doncaster Road and Bulleen Road. A reduced speed limit is in effect. Additionally, the Bulleen Road city-bound exit ramp remains closed for critical noise wall and underpass construction.

Public Health Alert: Measles Exposure

The Department of Health has issued a high-priority alert regarding an increased risk of measles across Victoria. Several public exposure sites have been identified following recent infectious cases. Residents are urged to:

  • Monitor for symptoms including fever, cough, and a distinctive rash for up to 18 days following visits to high-traffic public areas.
  • Verify vaccination status; those who have not received two doses of the MMR vaccine should consult a medical professional immediately.
  • Contact healthcare providers via telephone prior to visiting a clinic if symptoms develop to prevent further transmission.

Weather and Fire Safety

The Bureau of Meteorology forecasts a significant weather system moving through the Melbourne area today. Heavy rainfall is expected during the morning and early afternoon, which may lead to localized flash flooding. Despite the rain, the Country Fire Authority (CFA) has set the Fire Danger Rating for the Central District at "Moderate." While no Total Fire Ban is currently in place, residents in peri-urban areas should remain vigilant.

Community and Council Notices

  • Tender Notice: The City of Melbourne has issued a reminder that the tender for the Clayton Reserve Dog Park Upgrade (COMELB-1154924) is set to close tomorrow, 17 March, at 11:00 AM.
  • Dandenong Ramadan Night Market: Today marks the final day of the Dandenong Ramadan Night Market. Increased pedestrian activity and minor local traffic diversions are expected in the Dandenong precinct through late this evening.
